Gaius Sallustius Crispus (86 BC - c.35 BC) was a Roman historian and politician who penned the historical works Bellum Catilinae, Bellum Jugurthinum and a history in five books Historiarum Libri Quinque. His approach was philosophical and yet he maintained a high standard of literary style. This edition of his works include commentaries by the eminent Italian Renaissance humanist Lorenzo Valla (1407?-1457).
